About
An independent national alerts and preparedness service
The SB Sentinel is a separate, independently owned property. It reads public sources, names them on the item, and organises everything around a single question: does this affect people in the United States, here and now?
The service
What The SB Sentinel is
A national alert board with a preparedness section behind it. National first, global second: the front page leads with city, county, state and national conditions, and carries developments elsewhere as a clearly marked secondary section covering what may reach Americans later. The organising question is never 'is this interesting globally' but 'does this affect people here, now'.
The board
Items organised by geography — national, state, regional, then city and local — each carrying a severity band, a plain-English line about what it means for you, the category, the named source and its tier, and a timestamp in Eastern time.
Preparedness
Practical household, business and local-agency guidance: two-week readiness, water and power, fuel, money, digital security, documents and community, plus a printable one-page checklist that works without power or signal.
The record
A published source directory with a visible per-source health status, the four-tier sourcing rule, and a public corrections log where errors are dated and stated rather than quietly edited away.
Who runs it
Who publishes this
Named people, not a faceless masthead. The publisher, the editor and the corrections address on this page are all answerable for what appears on the board.

This site carries no detail it cannot stand behind. Where something has not been supplied to us — a registration or tax number, a street address — it is left off the page rather than filled in with something a reader cannot check.
Independence
Independently owned and operated
Stated plainly, because it is the thing a reader most needs to know about a service that talks about hazards.
The SB Sentinel is not affiliated with, endorsed by, funded by or embedded in any government — federal, state, local or foreign. We are not a government service, we are not an emergency warning authority, and we do not speak for any agency.
- We publish only what we have read from public sources, and we name the publisher on every item.
- No agency, department or office has editorial input, advance sight of an item, or the ability to remove one.
- We take no payment from a government body, a political party or a campaign, and we carry no government advertising.
- Where we are uncertain, we say so on the item. Where a claim comes only from state media, the item is labelled as state media.
Funding
How this is paid for

Subscriptions — see Plans and subscriptions. The site is free to read and the daily digest is free. A paid tier exists for readers who want alert pushes and the state and county detail behind them — it never gates what we publish about a hazard that affects people here now.
Limits
What this service is not
An alerts service that overstates its own standing is worse than no alerts service, so here is the boundary.
- It is not an official warning system and it does not replace one. Where a local agency has issued an instruction, that instruction takes priority over anything on this site.
- It is not a forecasting service. Forecasts appear only where a named agency has issued one.
- It is not a substitute for calling emergency services. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
- It does not claim to know what has not been published. Where a feed is unavailable or a source is quiet, we say so rather than filling the gap.
Reaching us
Corrections, source suggestions and organisation enquiries all go to sunny@sbsentinel.org. Corrections are answered first: send the headline, the date you saw it and a link to the published source if you have one, and we will log the correction publicly as soon as it is confirmed.
The SB Sentinel is a separate property from any other monitoring desk. Where this site and another product of the same publisher differ in framing, this one leads with the United States — always.
