LIVE ALERT · NATIONAL
Nationwide weather posture — multiple hazards in force across the country
Different hazards are in force in different parts of the country at the same time, and the desk weights them equally. Coastal flooding along the Gulf and Atlantic shorelines, driven by onshore flow and high tide cycles. Fire weather through the interior West, where low humidity and gusty winds are in place. Severe storms and heat across the central states, with damaging wind and prolonged heat. National Weather Service alerts are active in each, and no one region is the focus.
Local detail — county and city publishers
County and city publishers in three parts of the country are filing at once, and each is given the same weight. Along the coast: tidal and flash flooding closing shore roads, with high-water rescues under way. In the interior West: fire-weather shutoffs and evacuation notices, with air quality alerts downwind. Through the central states: severe storms and heat bringing downed trees, outages and cooling centres. No confirmed tornado touchdown has been reported — where a Tornado Watch is in force, that is a conditions-favourable notice, not a touchdown.
Hazards in force: coastal flooding, fire weather, severe storms and heat — three regions, equal weight.

The board
National board · every state and territory
All active alerts, across the whole country — read live from the board snapshot, with the board's own status stated on its face.
Reading the board…
Selecting a state keeps national and multi-state items visible, because those still affect you. Narrow the board by state below, or open that state's page for everything that applies there.
Standing panels
What the desk is carrying
Watch
Flood Watch — Montana and Wyoming
Flood watches and flash flood watches covering the two states, read as they are issued, with the gauge and the forecast standing behind each one.
Signal open, unresolved. Held until the forecast or the gauge confirms it.
Advisory
Flood Zone — South Fork stations
The South Fork gauge network station by station: current stage, watch stage, action stage and flood stage for each site.
Named and bounded. Monitored on a stand-by basis, with a stated threshold.

Status Board
The desk’s current posture, which sources are answering, and what each one is reporting right now — the top of the stack, with no editorial layer over it.
Neutral surface, not a grade. The board itself is the item.
Missing persons
National missing persons · every state and territory
Missing person notices, across the whole country — AMBER Alert, Silver Alert and Missing Indigenous Persons (MMIP) notices, each filed only where the publisher's own record carries that designation and names the issuing authority. Every card carries the state or territory, the person's name where the authority published one, the age, the last known location and date, the issuing agency and the source, plus what to do if you have information.
On this staging build, notices appear on the board above whenever the board snapshot carries them; the snapshot does not publish a separate missing-persons designation, so no separate list is printed here rather than an invented one.
Briefing rundown
The rundown
- One slow-moving storm system drives most of today’s alerts: the flood watches, the wildfire smoke and the air-quality warnings all trace back to it.
- The decisions that matter most are local, so the county or state you live in changes which warnings and shelter information actually apply to you.
- Federal action ran alongside the weather — new heat thresholds and a widened recall both apply from today, with no further notice needed.
